The Founder behind the movement

Danielle Butcher founder Red for a Reason Sydney makeup artist wearing red lipstick

RED for a REASON was founded by Danielle Butcher, a makeup artist and hair stylist whose career spans 20 years in fashion, advertising and editorial. Originally from London and now based in Sydney, she has built a life, career and family while doing what she loves.

Why me

This is a project I'm deeply passionate about and fully committed to. It's a big idea, I know that. I'm betting on myself, on us and putting it all on red. I really believe if we unite as a community, together we can be extraordinary.

For a long time I've wanted to help. To have purpose beyond my career and my family.

I love what I do but it could mean so much more. Using my skills, mobilising my beauty community, my contacts and my platform to create real purpose, that's where the magic lives.

RED for a REASON was thought of in a moment of wonder. The launch in June 2026 is a leap of faith, one I'm taking for all the right reasons. I'm showing up. Who's with me?

Domestic violence often creates shame and silence, for those affected, for those on the periphery, for all of us who don't quite know what to say. The idea behind RED for a REASON bypasses that. A red lip is a conversation starter. There’s nothing silent about a red lip.

The goal for 2026 is $50,000 for WAGEC. Every donation, every partner and every red lip gets us closer.

"I had an idea on a dog walk and I decided to back it. Red for a Reason might be the most important makeover of my career."
